CARACALLA. 198-217 AD. AR Denarius (3.24 gm). Laodicea mint. Struck 199-200 AD. ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / SAL GEN [HVM], Salus standing left, extending right hand to raise up a woman kneeling to her right, holding a serpent entwined sceptre in her left hand. RIC IV 350; BMCRE 701; RSC 558a.

SEV-400   CARACALLA. 198-217 AD. AR Denarius (3.07 gm). Laodicea mint. Struck 199-200 AD. ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / SECVRI-T ORBIS, Securitas seated left, holding sceptre in right hand, head resting on left. RIC IV 351b; BMCRE 703; RSC 573a.

ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, laureate and cuirassed bust right; aegis on chest / SEVERI PII AVG FIL, Caracalla standing left, holding Victory on globe in right hand, reversed spear in left; captive seated left on ground before. RIC IV -; BMCRE -; RSC -.  This reverse type not recorded for the mint of Laodicea and a very rare bust type. Ex Kelly Collection (Spink Auction 123, 18 November 1997), lot 1288.

ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / SEVER-I PII AVG FIL, Caracalla standing left, holding Victory on globe in right hand, reversed spear in left; captive seated left on ground before. RIC IV -; BMCRE -; RSC -.  This reverse type not recorded for the mint of Laodicea. See RIC 45 and BMCRE 172 for the same type from Rome.
